About Pekingese Puppies

Ancient Chinese Imperial Breed. Dignified and Devoted

The Pekingese is one of the most ancient dog breeds in the world, with a history stretching back over 2,000 years to the imperial palaces of China where they were bred exclusively for royalty. Known as "Lion Dogs" for their resemblance to the Chinese guardian lions that adorn temples and palaces, Pekingese were so revered that stealing one was punishable by death. These compact, dignified dogs carry themselves with a regal bearing that clearly reflects their noble heritage, walking with a distinctive rolling gait and surveying their domain with an air of calm authority. Despite their small size, Pekingese possess a surprisingly bold and confident personality, and they form extraordinarily deep bonds with their chosen person, offering devoted companionship that has been treasured by royalty and common folk alike for millennia.

A Lion-Like Appearance Perfect for Any Home

The Pekingese's luxurious double coat forms an impressive mane around their neck and shoulders, further enhancing their lion-like appearance. Their flat face, large dark eyes, and heart-shaped ears give them an expression that is both dignified and endearing. Pekingese come in a remarkable range of colors including gold, red, sable, cream, black, white, and parti-color combinations. They are small dogs, typically weighing between 7 and 14 pounds, but they are surprisingly solid and sturdy for their size. Their low exercise requirements and calm indoor demeanor make them outstanding apartment dogs and ideal companions for people who prefer a more relaxed lifestyle. They are happy with short walks and plenty of quality time with their favorite person.
