About Jack Russell Terrier Puppies

Small Size, Huge Personality. The Fearless Jack Russell

The Jack Russell Terrier is a small dog with a personality that could fill an arena. Developed in England in the early 19th century by Reverend John Russell for fox hunting, these compact, athletic terriers were bred to be bold enough to follow a fox underground and agile enough to keep up with horses across open country. The result is a breed of extraordinary intelligence, fearless courage, and seemingly limitless energy packed into a sturdy body that rarely exceeds 15 pounds. Jack Russells are famous for their incredible jumping ability, many can leap five times their own height, and their intense, focused determination when pursuing a task. Their bright, alert expression and lively demeanor make them one of the most entertaining and engaging small dog breeds.

Athletic and Intelligent. Built for Adventure

Jack Russell Terriers come in three coat varieties: smooth, rough, and broken (a mix of both). All three types feature a predominantly white coat with tan, black, or brown markings, and all shed moderately. Their compact, muscular body is built for speed and agility, and they excel in dog sports including agility, flyball, and earth dog trials. Jack Russells typically weigh between 13 and 17 pounds and stand 10 to 15 inches tall. Despite their small size, they require significant exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and well-behaved. They are happiest with active owners who can match their energy and provide plenty of outlets for their natural hunting instincts and athletic abilities.
