About Akita Puppies

Japan's National Treasure. Powerful and Dignified

The Akita is Japan's most revered and celebrated breed, a powerful, dignified dog with a striking bear-like appearance that commands respect and admiration. Originally bred as a guardian and hunting dog in the mountainous regions of northern Japan, the Akita is a large, muscular breed with a thick double coat, broad head, and alert, intelligent expression. Their noble bearing and unwavering courage have made them a national treasure in Japan, where they symbolize health, happiness, and long life. An Akita is not a dog for everyone, it is a breed for those who appreciate loyalty, strength, and dignity above all.

The Legendary Loyalty of the Hachiko Breed

The Akita is most famously associated with Hachiko, the legendary dog who waited at a train station for his deceased owner every day for nearly ten years. This story perfectly encapsulates the Akita's defining trait: an unwavering, almost spiritual loyalty to their family. Akitas are reserved with strangers but deeply devoted to their people. They are not recommended for first-time dog owners due to their strong-willed nature, but for experienced owners who understand and respect the breed, an Akita is the most loyal and devoted companion imaginable.
